Linfield College hosted a 3 game series on Fathers' Day Weekend that featured the top graduating players from the smallest schools, and the West won the last 2 with big offense, after the East prevailed in the opener.

 

 

Game 1

 

For the East, Travis Olson was 2-3 with 2 runs scored, and Levi Voight and Nathan DeSpain both had 2 RBIs. Voight was 1-2 and also scored a run, and DeSpain was 2-2. Dan Wolfe keyed the West's first inning, driving in 2 runs and scoring the third. Wolfe was 1-2 for the game.

Game 2

 

The West rebounded in the second game, as Tony Brayton had 3 RBIs and Michael Hoffman was 2-2 and scored a run. Scio's Ryan Hood-Taylor worked 7 innings on the mound, striking out 7 against only 3 hits on the way to picking up the win, and later, the West's Most Inspirational Player Award. Chad Hanson had a triple for the East.

Game 3

 

The West pulled away down the stretch in the 3rd. game with 12 runs in the 7th. & 8th. innings to take the series 2-1. Valley Catholic's Matt Twenge had a huge game, picking up the pitching win, as well as hitting the only 2 home runs of the series. Twenge had 6 RBIs and scored 3 times, capping a performance that produced the series MVP award. Tony Brayton and Nathan Kellow were both 2-2 at the plate for the West, and Kellow scored twice and collected an RBI. Brett Patterson went 3-5, with 3 runs scored & 3 RBIs for the West as well. All that offense was more than enough to overcome the 2 RBIs and 3 runs Sean Wensenk scored for the East. Paul Jones from Nyssa capped a stellar 3 sport year with a double, and the East's Most Inspirational Player award.
