In 1A Casco league action this last Tuesday night, the Perrydale Pirates clobbered the Willamette Valley Christian Warriors, 66-39. The Pirates came out fast in the 1st quarter, opening up a 20-9 lead off the hot shooting of Tyler Brown.
The Pirate defense did a lot of the work in the 2nd quarter keeping the Warriors at nine points in the quarter. Perrydale's offense cooled down with just 11 points in the 2nd quarter, to make the halftime score, 31-18 in favor of the Pirates.
In the 3rd quarter, Perrydale's Brown had the hot hand again, as the Pirate offense scored another 18 points to the Warrior's 9 points, to make the lead now 49-27.
Perrydale's offense continued to click, as WVCS just had no answer to the Pirate offense. Perrydale scored 17 in the final period to WVCS's 12 points.
Perrydale's Tyler brown had 32 points on the evening, including three 3 pointers. The Pirates had six 3 pointers on the night. Perrydale's Corbin Reed had 8 points, while Justin Cruickshank, Bryce Farris, and Blake Barnes all had 5 points each to lead all Pirate scorers.
WVCS's Matt Stubblefield had 21 points, while James Sullenger, Evan Smith, and Alex Pilgrim each chipped in 5 points a piece to lead all Warrior scorers.
Perrydale improved to 9-2 in Casco league play, while WVCS fell to 3-8.
Perrydale takes on St. Paul this Friday in the battle for 2nd place in the Casco league standings.
