No. 1 Marist 63, La Pine 8:

Brandon Jackson gained 200 yards on eight carries and scored five touchdowns (8, 9, 82, 47 and 20 yards) to lead the host Spartans, who led 56-0 by halftime.

No. 2 Siuslaw 27, Tillamook 6

Siuslaw got off to a slow start and then dominated host Tillamook in a 27-6 nonleague win on Friday.
Siuslaw rolled up 370 yards, including 91 yards rushing on 13 carries by David Mesa and 77 yards on 15 carries by quarterback Jacob Mitchell. Mitchell also completed 12 of 18 passes for 142 yards, with no interceptions.

 No. 3 Sisters 55, Stayton 13

The Outlaws and their star running back, 5-foot-10 179-pound Cory McCaffrey, proved too much for Stayton. McCaffrey rushed for 312 yards and scored five touchdowns for the Outlaws.McCaffrey scored three times in the first nine minutes: a 36-yard run at 8:31, a 67-yard run at 6:26 and a 5-yard run with 3:48 left to play in the first quarter.By halftime McCaffrey had rushed for 237 yards.

Newport 40, No. 4 Yamhill-Carlton 21

Tyler Katchka ran for 125 yards and three touchdowns and Levi Bellanger added 103 yards and a score as the Cub shocked the fourth-ranked Tigers in Newport.

Defense was the order of the night for Newport, which held Yamhill-Carlton star quarterback Zach Anderson to a 15-for-31 night passing for 197 yards and two interceptions. The Cubs also limited the Tigers to 51 yards rushing.

No. 5 Scappoose 29, Philomath 0

Justin Engstrom threw for 160 yards and two touchdowns and T.J. Crane accounted for a pair of score as the fifth-ranked Indians posted a shutout at Philomath.Philomath lost five fumbles in the contest.

No. 6 Astoria 26, Yreka (Calif.) 24 At Autzen Stadium in Eugene, the Fishermen held off a late Yreka rally to run their season record to 5-0.Astoria sophomore quarterback Jordan Poyer passed for three touchdowns, and Andy Murray accounted for a pair of scores, including a 70-yard TD reception in the third quarter.Astoria led 26-6 before Yreka scored the final three touchdowns of the game. No. 7 Hidden Valley 28, North Bend 21

Hidden Valley's Travis Warren scored on a 15-yard run with 2:54 to go in the game to give the Mustangs a 28-21 win over visiting North Bend on Friday night.

The Bulldogs had rallied from a 21-7 deficit, tying the score on a pass from Ethan Ottemiller to Luke Clark with 6:08 remaining.

No. 8 La Grande 26, Vale 14 The Tigers earned a tough nonconference victory at home, scoring 26 unanswered points to upend the host Vikings.Trailing 7-0 entering the second quarter, La Grande took the lead for good behind a pair of touchdown runs by Landon Weaver.

Sutherlin 41, No. 9 Illinois Valley 22 The Cougars saw their winning streak snapped at three games thanks in part to three lost fumbles inside the Sutherlin red zone.

Larry Ragsdale carried 14 times for 144 yards and one touchdown, while Adam Miller had 20 rushes for 99 yards and two TDs to pace the Cougars (3-1).

Sutherlin had 325 yards of total offense and led 27-0 before IV finally broke through for a score.

The Pirates capitalized on a late safety to edge Klamath Union, 20-19, at Jack Woodward Stadium in Phoenix.

Ontario 35, Nyssa 20

Ontario overcame a 14-7 halftime deficit by scoring 21 straight points in the second half to beat Nyssa in a nonleague Malheur County showdown.

Nyssa quarterback Mark Jensen threw three touchdown passes – to Paul Jones and Anthony Holcomb – to give Nyssa a 14-7 halftime lead.

Loren Stewart put the Tigers ahead in the first quarter on a 61-yard run, then added TD runs of 33 and 15 yards in fourth quarter.

McLoughlin 15, Riverside 6

Justin Humbert ran for first-half touchdowns of 25 and 36 yards as the Pioneers beat the Pirates 15-6 in Milton-Freewater. 

 

Taft 36, Banks 35

Jeremiah Bennett’s 3-yard TD run – and the ensuing PAT kick by Omar Cortez, lifted the Tigers to a one-point victory in a battle of winless teams Friday.

Kyle Hamlin had a pair of touchdown runs for Taft, while Josh Marsh caught two TD passes and returned an interception for a score to lead Banks.

Colin Stock was 9-for-10 passing for 145 yards and a touchdown, and added a TD run as the Hornets won their South Side Series showdown with the Vikings for the second straight season.
