Capital Conference

La Salle 31, Gladstone 21

The Falcons overcame a 14-3 deficit with 21 straight points in the second quarter, then put the game away in the fourth quarter to beat the Gladiators in a pivotal Capital Conference showdown Thursday night.

La Salle quarterback Vincent Hicks had a hand in all three scores in the Falcons’ rally, scoring on a 5-yard run and throwing a pair of touchdown passes to Cameron Keney as La Salle took a 24-14 lead into the intermission.

Gladstone pulled within 24-21 in the third quarter on a 41-yard touchdown pass from Mitch Foteff to Darrell Fields, but the Falcons slammed the door with a 10-yard scoring run by Christopher Nagel in the fourth.

The La Salle victory forced a tie for second place in the Capital Conference with the Falcons and Gladiators both at 3-1, trailing 3-0 Molalla. A chance for a three-way tie for the conference title could still exist if the Gladiators can beat the Indians when they meet Oct. 27 in Gladstone.
