Signing day has come and gone, and a number of Oregon athletes are going to continue their careers on the pitch as well as in the classroom. Oregonprepsports.net will try to post a list of those who have signed a National Letter of Intent, and update the list as additional commitments are made.
Caleb Nyone - Portland Christian
- Committed to Seattle Pacific
- Oregon High School State Player of the Year (3A2A1A in 2008). State Champion in 2008
- Two-time District #2 Player of the Year (2007-08)
- Two-time All-State selection (2007-08)
- Career totals of 42 goals, 34 assists.
- Plays on Eastside United FC Liverpool club team with two State Cup championship, the 2008 Surf Cup championship, and the 2007 Presidents Day championship.
- Four years on the honor roll, 3.88 grade-point average.
- Competes on the Portland Christian track team (2008 state champions).
- Coach Mark Collings on Nyone: "Caleb is just starting to understand how good he is. His combination of athleticism and understanding of the game will give him the opportunity to compete right away for time along the back line."
Jacob Niska - Portland Christian
- Committed to Corban College
- District #2 First team all league player 2008 (honorable mention all state). OSAA State Soccer Champion in 2008
- Member of the defensive unit that only allowed 1 goal in the entire 2008 state tournament
- Member of the Drama, and Mock Trial programs at Portland Christian High School
- Coach Aaron Lewis on Niska: "Jacob has been a 4 year starter at Portland Christian High school, and has been a solid example to our younger players. He is extremely coachable, and I am sure that he will embrace and excel in any role coach Irby has for him at Corban College."
