Junior goalkeeper, Keegan Rogers from Portland Christian was selected to the Region IV Regional Team that will be traveling to Orlando, Florida in December to participate in the Disney Showcase.

Disney's Soccer Showcase presented by Chelsea Football Club is the ultimate place for top clubs to be seen by hundreds of college coaches looking for great soccer talent. Rated #1 youth soccer tournament in the U.S, Disney's Soccer Showcase gives athletes a chance to shine on one of the biggest stages set for youth soccer in this country.

Keegan is one of sixteen players selected to participate in this elite tournament. Region IV is comprised of fourteen states and Keegan is the only player in his age group selected from Oregon.

Keegan was selected to the Regional team after only his second year with the Olympic Development Program. ODP, as it is more commonly called, is a national identification and development program for high-level players.

The program identifies and develops youth players throughout the country to represent their state association, region and the United States in soccer competition. ODP teams are formed at the state association and regional levels, made up of the best players in various age groups.

At the state association level, pools of players are identified in each eligible age group, brought together as a team to develop their skill through training and competition. From the state pools and subsequent teams, players are identified for regional and national pools and teams.

What are the Goals of ODP?

  1. To identify a pool of players in each age group from which a United States National Team will be selected for international competition.
  2. To provide high level training to benefit and enhance the development of players at all levels.
  3. Through the use of carefully selected licensed coaches, develop a mechanism for the enhancement of ideas and curriculum to improve all levels of coaching.

Keegan has had an amazing last six months of playing soccer. This spring Keegan trained with the Timbers Premier Development League and over the summer spent five weeks traveling in Brazil playing and training with Botafogo, Funorte and Oscar Training Center.

When asked about these opportunities, Rogers states, "Training with the Timbers and playing in Brazil allowed me to play with the best competition possible. I had a great time and these experiences have pushed me to the next level."

He is now heading into the State Playoffs after quenching the League Championship for the third year in a row and hoping to repeat another State Championship.
