Portland Christian defeated Open Door Christian Academy on October 26th 2-0 to wrap up the District #2 title with an 8-0 record. This season marks the third consecutive year that the Royals have ran through District #2 without a loss. Team defense has been the huge for the Royals throughout league play. The Royals allowed just 3 goals total, and only one against starting goal keeper Keegan Rogers.
"This year has been a special year us. We lost some key starters from last years championship team, and it has been awesome seeing new kids embrace larger roles," said 4th year coach Aaron Lewis. "Last years state player of the year Caleb Nyone (now playing at Seattle Pacific) was a difficult hole to fill, but Seniors Dave Smouse, Jake Arnston, Nick Young and AJ Astacio-Patten have found ways to get this team back to a championship level again."
Portland Christian will play the winner of Portland Adventist and Corbett on November 5th for state seeding. |
