This game was a tight one all the way, with both sides playing hard, smash mouthed football. In the first quarter, the Pirates took a 16-8 lead via Justin Storm's 5 yard touchdown run, and a 48 yard touchdown pass to Cody Comerford. The Loggers took the lead 22-16 in the second quarter, on a 32 yard touchdown pass from Cody Myers to Joey Knighton, and a 2 yard touchdown scamper by Josh Dyck. The Pirates tied the score 22-22 shortly before halftime on a 1 yard touchdown run by Justin Storm.

In the second half, both defenses buckled down and refused to let the other team score. There were a couple of turnover opportunities in the second half for both the Pirates and the Loggers, but neither offense could capitalize on those opportunities, as both the Logger and Pirate defenses denied the opposing offense from scoring.

The Pirates’ Michael Angel made a touchdown saving diving tackle on Harley Casillas to stop a 35 yard run at the Perrydale 26. It was a key stop, as Tristen Stouder picked off Knighton’s pass 2 plays later.

Perrydale then mounted a 13 play drive, but the Loggers stopped that when Storm was forced into an fourth down incompletion.

With the rain coming down in buckets, the game proceeded to overtime, with the score still knotted at 22-22. The Perrydale Pirates got the ball first, and put together a grueling 9 play up the middle drive that resulted in them taking the lead 28-22 on a Blake Barnes 1 yard touchdown run. The 2 point conversion failed.

The Loggers then got their chance in overtime. First down resulted in a 6 yard loss, as the Pirates blitzed heavily and caught Logger Josh Dyck in the backfield. Second down faired no better for the Loggers, as the Pirates again blitzed heavily and dropped Casillas for a 7 yard loss. On third down, Knighton was hit by two Pirate defenders as he was setting up to pass, which popped the ball straight up in the air, and the Pirates recovered to win the game.

Perrydale co-head coach Chris Gubrud acknowledged Barnes’ role in the win, observing "Blake stepped up when the spotlight was on."

Barnes and Comerford were the workhorses for the Pirates, who piled up 255 yards. Barnes led everyone with 132 yards on 18 carries, including 19 in overtime, while junior Comerford added 81 yards.

"We ran up against an opponent better than anyone we've seen," Butte Falls coach Randy Stephenson said about Perrydale.

Knighton led Butte Falls with 114 yards rushing, and two touchdown receptions.

The Loggers (9-1) were eliminated from the playoffs, as the Perrydale Pirates (7-3) head back to Perrydale next weekend to face Imbler at home in the second round of the playoffs. The Imbler Panthers (10-0) defeated Perrydale 56-14 in the 4th. week of the season when the teams met in Dufur.
