West Leads East Past The West

The East won the 20th Annual Oregon 8-Man All-Star football game 26-6. The game was held this year on June 20th., at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, with kickoff at 2 PM.  The victory tied the all-time series at 10-10.

The East's Nick West from Imbler began Saturday's scoring with a 2 yard touchdown run, his first of two visits to the enc zone, four minutes into the game.

After a West turnover, the East added a second score, as Cove's Justin Brainerd broke open a 23 yard run for a touchdown with 6:40 left in the first quarter.

Both teams failed to score for the rest of the first half, as the defenses asserted themselves.

More defense keyed the start of the second half, until West gave the East another touchdown with a 24 yard touchdown run with 4:49 remaining in the third quarter.

Two minutes later, St. Paul's Jeff Annen gave the West their only points of the game, on a 12 yard touchdown run.

The West controlled the East thru most of the fourth quarter, shifting momentum, but failed to score anymore points, and the East was able to run out the clock.

Crane's Dallen Davies capped the East's victory with a 27 yard touchdown sprint on the final play of the game.

Davies finished with a game-high 93 yards on nine carries and threw for 25 yards, completing three of his six passes. He was named the East's most inspirational player and earned offensive player of the game honors.

Sam Rux of McKenzie was the West's offensive player of the game, and West was selected as the overlal MVP.
