The girls' nominees for the 2010 McDonalds All-American High School Team have been announced.  The final All-American team, comprised of graduating seniors, will be selected from a pool of nominees from throughout the country.  The 9th McDonald's All-American High School Girls Basketball Game will be played on March 31, 2010 at the ValueCity Arena n Columbus Ohio.  Here are the 20 seniors selected from Oregon:

2009 1A Girls Hoops All-Star Game Announced

The 2009 installment of the 1A girls basketball all-star series will resume later this week in Sisters, Oregon.  Action kicks off  this Friday, June 26 with girls starting at 2:30pm and the boys starting at 4pm. All-star teams are formed by combining two leagues together, providing a total of 4 boys and 4 girls teams.  The Valley 10/Big Sky team faces off against Old Oregon/High Desert team starting at 2:30pm with the Casco/Mountain West team going up against the Skyline/Mountain Valley team at 5:30pm. The 3rd place game is Saturday at 11am while the championship game takes place at 2pm.  Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and students with ID cards.  Info on the boys' games can be found here. 23-7 Run Breaks Open Tie Game

 

 

The Washington all star squad, featuring nine players committed to Division I programs, used a 23-7 second half run to break open the game, and defeat the Oregon team by ten points. The 75-65 win at the Chiles Center on the University of Portland campus was Washington's second consecutive win in the Les Schwab Northwest Shootout, and gives Washington a 9-7 edge in the series.

 

Washington lead by four points early in the second half, but Newberg's Hannah Munger connected on a pair of free throws, and then Tigard's Corinn Waltrip's layup tied the game at 39-39. But then  Washington opened up a 16 point lead, with the 23-7 run, effectivele ending Oregon's hopes.
