Girls Basketball All-Stars2009 1A Girls Hoops All-Star Game Announced
Girls Basketball - Girls Basketball All-Stars Written by OregonPrepSports.net Wednesday, 24 June 2009 06:00 Hits: 539 The 2009 installment of the 1A girls basketball all-star series will resume later this week in Sisters, Oregon. Action kicks off this Friday, June 26 with girls starting at 2:30pm and the boys starting at 4pm. All-star teams are formed by combining two leagues together, providing a total of 4 boys and 4 girls teams. The Valley 10/Big Sky team faces off against Old Oregon/High Desert team starting at 2:30pm with the Casco/Mountain West team going up against the Skyline/Mountain Valley team at 5:30pm. The 3rd place game is Saturday at 11am while the championship game takes place at 2pm. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and students with ID cards. The Washington all star squad, featuring nine players committed to Division I programs, used a 23-7 second half run to break open the game, and defeat the Oregon team by ten points. The 75-65 win at the Chiles Center on the University of Portland campus was Washington's second consecutive win in the Les Schwab Northwest Shootout, and gives Washington a 9-7 edge in the series.
Washington lead by four points early in the second half, but Newberg's Hannah Munger connected on a pair of free throws, and then Tigard's Corinn Waltrip's layup tied the game at 39-39. But then Washington opened up a 16 point lead, with the 23-7 run, effectivele ending Oregon's hopes.

When you have the biggest gunslinger in all the land then you let her come out shooting and good things will happen and thats what happened Sunday afternoon at the Les Schwab Northwest Shootout as Ashley Corral led the Washington All Stars to their second straight win with a convincing 100-77 victory.
