LB Michael Bibbee, a senior-to-be at North Eugene, has verbally committed to play football for Oregon State.
Bibbee also doubles as an All League tailback. As sophomore in 2007, Bibbee rushed for exactly 1,000 yards on 160 carries (6.3 YPC) and 8 touchdowns. He was one of two MWL tailbacks named to 1st team league honors. He was third on the team in tackles, with 30, along with 2 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss. He also forced two fumbles.
Bibbee was injured halfway through last season, his junior year. He missed all five league games, but was able to return for basketball season, where he started all season in the Highlander’s frontcourt, a team that reached the 5A semifinals.
On the diamond, Bibbee was also a 2nd team MWL catcher as a sophomore, leading the league in doubles. He didn’t play baseball his junior year.
In my MWL Football ‘09 preview blog, I projected Bibbee to win MWL Offensive Player of the Year honors. He should be healthy and good to go for his senior campaign, much to the delight of North Eugene football fans, who had to endure a 1-9 season last year.
Below is North Eugene’s 2009 schedule, for any interested parties wishing to see Bibbee play.
9/11 @ Crook County (Prineville)
9/18 North Bend
9/25 @ Springfield
10/2 Madison
10/9 @ Parkrose (Portland)
10/16 @ Marshfield (Coos Bay)
10/23 Thurston
10/30 Willamette
11/6 @ Churchill (Eugene)
