Following events on road trips to Seaside on 12/21/06, and the Sisters Tournament 12/27/06 thru 12/29/06, the Indians were 6-4. They would win only once more all season.

(Updated as additional charges against additional players are filed.)

John William Berokoff, (now) 18, Joshua Paul Haqq, 17, and Onisefor Kutsev, 17, were all subsequently removed from the team amidst charges of possible assualtive misconduct.

The Oregon State Police began investigations based on an initial report filed by the Deschutes County Sheriff's office.

On Thursday, April 26, 2007, one of the 17 year old students, Kutsev, was arrested at Molalla High School, and placed in a juvenile detention facility. The following Wednesday, Berokoff and Haqq were also arrested at Molalla High School.

State Police said sexual misconduct involving players on the school's boys' basketball team occurred while they were on road trips in December. Berokoff now faces charges of unlawful sexual penetration, sex abuse, coercion and harassment. He was been taken to the Clatsop County Jail in Astoria, where he was held pending an appearance in Clatsop County Circuit Court.

Berokoff and Haqq were arraigned Thursday afternoon, May 3. Under Oregon's Measure 11, due to the nature of the charges, Haqq is being charged as an adult. Kutsev was not initially charged at this time in the Clatsop county case.

Haqq is scheduled to appear on May 10, and Berokoff on May 11, for Indictment hearings before the Clatsop County Grand Jury. Berokoff is free on $25,000 bail. Haqq's bail was set at $20,000.

No charges have been made by the Deschutes county District Attorney as of early May.

Berokoff is a senior at Molalla, while Haqq and Kutsev are juniors. All were members of the most successful Indians football team, quarterbacked by Haqq to the Capital Conference Championship, in a number of years as well.

Additional Charges Surface

Subsequently, Clatsop County has brought additional charges against 17 year old Jr. Onisefor Kutsev, who was already on probation for a 2005 sexual assault offense, and his brother, 16 year old Soph. Vlasy Kutsev. O. Kutsev's bail was set at $250,000, and V. Kutsev's bail at $100,000, in a May 22 court appearance. V. Kutsev was released on bail.

A 5th. member of the basketball team, Soph. Cody Lee Anderson, has now also been arrested in the matter, involving assualt on a freshman teammate on a bus in Seaside. The events, which started as repeated events of hazing, a crime in itself, escalated to more serious crimes.

A Grand Jury in Deschutes is considering the events, apparently including 2 assaults from the trip to Sisters, in a motel room and a hot tub, for the possibility of further, separate charges there.
