Sisters vs Yamhill-Carlton: Game 1- Sisters wins 25-16, Game 2- Sisters, 25-18, Game 3 Sisters, 25-14. Sisters had too many guns for this young YC team. The Tigers did a good job digging some of Sisters monster hits but poor serving haunted YC throughout the match. Sisters' relentless hitting squad of Pledger, Schaab, Kotal & Satko were just too much for YC's defense to handle. Yamhill hitters Anderson, Uhlich and Lee had some great moments today, giving their loud, exuberant student section reasons to show their spirit. Sisters will advance to evening play where they'll meet the 4th ranked, Henley Hornets at 8:30. YC will meet Douglas at 10:00 am tomorrow as they begin their pursuit of the Consolation Trophey (4th Place). Douglas vs Henley: Game 1- Henley 28-26, Game 2, Henley 27-25, Game 3 Henley wins, 25-13. Henley junior OH, Autumn Wedan proved to be too much for the Douglas Trojans. Wedan crushed the ball today, regardless where she was on the floor. Her setters Cori Wallace and Alycia Dalessi did a great job of setting her up for double digit kills in the match. Senior M, Stephanie Matheso & Dalessi also created a difficult wall for Douglas hitters to hit through. Douglas seniors Anna Pleich and Courtney Bush had a handful of kills apiece but missed serves, net violations and hits going to far or too wide, gives Henley the sweep in the opening round of 4A play. Douglas will play YC at 10:00 am tomorrow, winner of that match will play for the Consolation Trophey (4th place). Henley will play later this evening as they meet the #1 ranked Sisters Outlaws at 8:30. Winner of that match will play for the State Championship tomorrow evening at 8:30. LaSalle vs Marist: Marist takes game 1, 25-22. Well balanced teams with strong hitters and good defensive specialists. Teams trade point for point throughout game 1. LaSalle's Jenny Pliska with 5 kills, Marist's Allie Rogers with 4 kills and 2 stuff blocks, Amanda Hagstrom with 3 kills. Game 2: LaSalle's picking up their play, showing us why they are ranked 3rd in the State. Pliska with an ace jump serve. 15-10 LaSalle. Marist is finding LaSalle's defensive holes and have taken over the lead, 20-17. Emelia Gubrud with a nice down-the-line kill for Marist, Timeout LaSalle. 21-17 Marist. LaSalle refuses to die, stages a flawless comeback taking game 2, 25-23. Game 3: Starts with a bang and big block from Marist's Alexis Mollahan. LaSalle's Kathryn Ressler gets the crush from an ill placed Marist overset. Marist's Mercedes Downer's serve is causing LaSalle fits. Marist scores big, 13-8, LaSalle Time Out. Tied up at 22-22. Great sets by Mollahan to Gerard, gives Marist the win. 25-22. Game 4: Both teams trading swings, Marist with 2 hitting errors puts the score at 9-7 LaSalle. Gerard get her second kill attempt to fall after LaSalle's block, shuts down her first attempt. We're all tied up, 17-17.22-20 LaSalle. Big Rogers/Mollahan ends Pliska's hopes of a kill. The Falcons scramble back and win the next 2 points, Marist scores, LaSalle scores and wins game 4, 25-23. Game 5: Backrow attack and kill by LaSalle's Haley Thul! Big swing by Allie Rogers from a perfect set by Megan Danna. Jenny Pliska racks up another kill, score is 6-4 LaSalle. Jenna Waldron set to Gubrud gives Marist the needed point. Marist receiving error, Marist hitting error, LaSalle setting error. Score is 10-7 LaSalle. Mollahan/Rogers with another stuff block, kill Hagstrom, timeout LaSalle, 10-9 LaSalle. Attack error by LaSalle ties the score. Serving error Marist, kill Gerard, hitting error Marist puts score at 12-11 LaSalle. LaSalle gets their backrow half speed hit to drop on Marist's side then scores from a Haley Thul serve and Meghan Ressler gets the kill giving LaSalle the game and match win. 15-11. LaSalle will play Central tonight at 8:30. Winner of that match will play for the State Championship tomorrow night at 8:30. Marist will play Hidden Valley tomorrow morning at 10:00, winner of that match will play for the Consolation Trophey (4th Place) at 2:15pm. Hidden Valley vs Central: The zebra-spandex clad Panthers win game 1, 25-18. Central's wicked jump serves, dispursement of well placed sets by Valco Player of the Year, Leigh Anne MacCarthy and mach-speed hit kills by Bansen and Swanson give Hidden Valley more than they can handle in game 1.HV's Haley Fikso finishes game 1 with 3 kills. Game 2: Christine Bansen is serving her 7th straight wheaties-induced jump serve to a Hidden Valley team that has no defensive answer for it. 13-5 Central. HV calls a timeout. HV comes back strong, great hits from Fikso and Jamie Richardson puts the score at 19-15 Central. Good rallies and floor-denting hits by Swanson gives Central game 2, 25-18. Game 3: Hidden Valley All League setter Chauncie Porter is finding OH, junior Lacy Wood to get things started in big way for HV. Score 9-3 and Central calls a timeout. 14-6 HV causes Central Coach Mendazona to use another timeout and try to settle her team down. 16-7 HV. This was Hidden Valley's game from the onset. The Mustangs take Game 3, 25-17. Game 4: HV's little libero is earning her keep. Her forearms have gotta be throbbing from the countless digs she's gotten from Swanson/Bansen swings. She's a hustler! McCarthy sets up Central OH, Bergenn Orin with a great back set fo he slide and cross-court kill. 12-9 Central. Picturebook perfect flare executed by Jaime Norman, assist MacCarthy! 16-14 Central. Holy Smokes! Swanson is jump-serving again but after HV freeballs the miraculous return over the net, a surprised Central team lets it drop to the floor. 20-15 Central, Timeout HV. Tied up! 23-23, those Mustangs are scrappy! Central wins game 4 and match with a resounding smash from Christine Bansen. 25-23. They will play LaSalle tonight at 8:30, winner of that match will play for the State Championship tomorow night at 8:30. Hidden Valley will play Marist at 10:00am tomorrow in the quest for the ConsolationTrophey (4th Place). |
