Official Announcements Planned for Wednesday

South Salem’s Kristen Haugen, Suzannah von Trapp, and Megan Rollins will commit to playing college softball on Wednesday morning. Haugen will sign a National Letter of Intent to attend the College of Idaho (known for several years as Albertson College), an NAIA school located in Caldwell Idaho. Rollins will also sign a National Letter of Intent to play for NCAA Division II Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Von Trapp will announce her intent to stay closer to home, and attend and play for NCAA Division III Willamette University in Salem.

Haugen, a third baseman for the Saxons, was a first team all-Central Valley Conference selection, and honorable mention all-state, last season, and has been a four year starter for Saxon skipper Scott McCormick. Haugen also plays for the ASA Oregon Slammers.

Von Trapp plays shortstop for South Salem, and has also been a four year starter. Von Trapp was a first team all-Central Valley Conference selection last year, and plays for the ASA Oregon Panthers’ 18U Gold team.

Rollins has also started for the Saxons in the outfield all four of her high school years, and plays for the ASA Northwest Extreme 18U Gold team as well.

South Salem, currently tied with West Salem for first place in the Central Valley Conference, and their four year starters, will be returning to the state playoffs for the second consecutive year before the players move on to college softball.
