The delayed effect that compiling nationwide results imposes on the USA Today/NFCA High School Top 25 finally caught up with Marist, who dropped completely out of the poll, the result of their one run loss to Newport on April 20th., and despite winning both their games by a combined score of 31-3 during the period considered for the latest poll, April 20 thru 26.
Grants Pass is now the only northwest school receiving recognition, but the Cavers remained in the "other receiving votes" category, essentially not moving, despite a pair of wins, by a combined score of 31-0, during the week considered by the poll.
Neither Jesuit, #1 in the 6A poll, or The Dalles-Wahtonka, #1 in the 5A poll and the only Oregon team still undefeated received any votes.
Klein Oak (Texas) hung on to the top spot, having completed their regular season with a 26-0 record, thanks to victories over Dekaney and Spring this past week. Texas suspended all further high school sports due to the Swine flu outbreak.
The latest top ten remains unchanged, as those ten teams combined to win all 26 games they played. (Record changes also reflect late results not included in the prior poll.)
Naples (Florida) remains second, followed by a talented trio of California schools — Arch Bishop Mitty, Sheldon and Norco.
