4A Volleyball State Tournament, Saturday Morning, Marist and Douglas win

Saturday morning "brunch bracket" includes Hidden Valley, Marist, Douglas and Yamhill-Carlton. Winners of the 2 matches will play for 4th place today at 2:15.  As I live blog, if you hit your refresher button every few minutes, you'll get updates on each of the following games.

Marist vs Hidden Valley: Marist's Allie Rogers gets two quick kills and a stuff block, Marist leads 13-7.  HV's libero is a little dynamo, great digs to start this game.  Fikso with a big kill from the rightside but then steps back and misses her serve. 17-15 Marist. Kill Hagstrom, big kill by Lacy Wood puts HV tied with Marist, backrow kill by Peckham, 23-22 HV. Score changes 6 times but Marist prevails in Game 1: 2-25.  Douglas/YC: Score is 10-10, Douglas takes Game 1, 25-14.

Douglas/YC Game 2: Good battle going on down on Court 1. Pleich and Bush putting some points on the board early for Douglas. YC's Uhlich stuff blocks Rachel Erickson, score is 13-12 YC. Effective dump by Lee, 15-13 YC.  Lead change and Douglas is up, 20-16. Timeout YC. Douglas wins game 2, 25-17. Game 3, score 5-3 Douglas. Sami Lee gets a big kill for YC. 6-4 Douglas. Anderson and Ogden produce a very effective wall, Douglas gets rejected by the wall, 3 times in a row before getting one to drop in. 12-10 Douglas.   22-14 Douglas, great kill by Anderson.1 kill and 2 points serving by Findley aren't enough as Douglas takes Game 3, 25-18. HV/Marist Game 2: Gerard and Hagstrom with a kill apiece, 15-10 HV.  Hitting errors, missed serve and kill by HV puts them up, 18-12. Fikso kill, Marist error, Score 23-13 HV.HV wins Game 2, 25-23. Big stuff block by duo Fisko and Doig shuts down Marist's kill attempt, abruptly! Rogers' hit does too deep then she dumps the next one to HV's hardwood. 6-4 Marist.Timeout HV as Marist goes on a 3 point spree. Score 9-4 Marist. HV struggling with missed serves and hits going long. 16-8 Marist. Sweet dig by HV's Lacy Wood and Jamie Richardson puts it away, nice play for HV. Time Out Marist. 16-12 Marist. Serve receive error by HV, kill by Hagstrom. 20-13 Marist. Ace Fikso and big kill by Richardson, HV's coming back. 21-19. Lacy Woods kill it's a 1 point game, 23-23. Hitting error by HV, Marist wins Game 3, 25-22.  Game 4: I like HV's freshman Bailey Bars, a lefty that can hit from a backrow pass bypassing the set.  A trick even the most seasoned player has trouble perfecting. Bailey with the block!  Marist scores rom Waldron and Hagstrom. 12-6 Marist. 3 errors for Marist, score 12-9. Gerard kill, HV error, HV net violation. 16-9 Marist.Cardani and Hagstrom for Marist then a thunderous hit by Gerard. 19-9 Marist. Serve receive error by Marist, timeout Marist, 19-12. Gerard down the line smash! 20-14 Marist. Cardani crosscourt kill. 22-14. Fikso kill stops Marist's run. HV hitting error and a Rogers kill puts Marist in the Consolation Game, winning game 4, 25-15. Marist will face Douglas at 2:15 today to determine 4th Place.
