Saturday morning kicked off with Consolation matches between Junction City and Estacada, Tillamook and Henley. Estacada proved too much for the Junction City Tigers winning all 3 games. 25-14, 25-22 and 25-12. Tillamook-Henley went 5 games, Henley winning the first two and the Cheesemakers battling back to take the next 3. 17-25, 21-25, 25-17, 25-20 & 15-11. Estacada will play Tillamook at Noon on Court 1 for the Consolation Trophy (4th Place).
Game 1: Estacada swiftly and effectively takes this one. 25-14. Estacada's little Libero, senior Brittany Barstad rules the backrow, Tillamook is having a difficult time findiing any holes that the speedy Barstad can't get to. Senior hitter, Shikara White ruled at the net. Blocking most everything Tillamook tried to hit through her then smashing blistering hit after blistering hit at Tillamook. Her finesse, court savvy and picture-book perfect attack approach leave me smiling, a great player to watch. When she's not pounding the ball, teammates Devyn Callahan & Caelyn Jackson are. Well rounded team that surprisingly fell to a determined Sisters Outlaw team yesterday, diminishing all hopes for another State Championship. Game 2: Tillamook puts forth a great effort in game two with senior OH, Kirstin Jensen making a statement at the net and with well placed, hard kills. This one goes to the wire with Estacada prevailing, 26-24. Game 3: Estacada Wins! 25-21. Scrappy play by the Cheesemakers and some beautiful hits by OH, senior Megan Hamblen and senior, Kirstin Jensen but Estacada has too many guns and one huge cannon that goes by the name of "White". Congratuations to Coach Hambleton, Lippert and Jackson and to the Lady Rangers! Tillamook takes home the 6th Place Trophy, Congrats to the Lady Cheesemakers. |
