Consolation play began this morning at 10:00 am between Reedsport-Valley Catholic and Cascade Christian-Sheridan. Winners of the two matches will play for the Consolation Championship at 2:15 today. A strong Valley Catholic team swept Reedsport in 3. 25-21, 25-14, 25-11. Meanwhile, on the other court, Sheridan refused to give Cascade Christian the match without putting up a late fight. CC wins the first 2 games before Sheridan says "No more" and takes the next 3, sendiing them to the Consolation Championship Game today at 2:15 to face League rival Valley Catholic. Both teams have met 3 times this already this season with Sheridan winning two of those meetings. All the right ingredients for high intensity, action-packed Volleyball. Winner of the match takes 4th Place honors. (Consolation Trophy).

Game 1: Midway through Sheridan leads 18-13. Sheridan takes game 1, 25-18.

Game 2: Sheridan again comes out swinging. Dickey and Moser are doing everything within their power to win this game. Great feeds by senior setter Rhonda Murdock and smart backrow play by senior Libero Megan McKee create havoc for VC. Too many team errors by Valley Catholic after they make a good run at Sheridan but Sheridan holds on for the win. 25-21.

Game 3: Valley Catholic with some nice early kills. Defensive Specialist (DS) senior, Heather Butterwegge is digging up everything Dickey is hitting at her, it's keeping VC in this game and giving them a much needed spark. 15-14 VC. Pounding hit by Sheridan's Bethany Dickey, fantastic dig by senior DS, Laura Ekstrom puts the momentum back in Sheridan's favor. 22-21 Sheridan. Great kill by VC's Wikander and beautiful save by Libero Melissa Lynn gives VC 2 needed points. Kill by Sheridan's sophomore OH, Kelsi Vandewettering puts the score at 24-23. Another kill by Vandewettering gives Sheridan the win! Sheridan sweeps in 3. Congratulations to the Sheridan Spartans for their 4th Place finish! 6th place goes to the Valley Catholic Valiants! Nice job from the West Valley League!
